Yogyakarta, August 2, 2025 – The Graduate Student Association of Physics, Universitas Gadjah Mada (HMPF UGM), successfully organized Mangroovity 2025 at Baros Beach, Bantul, Yogyakarta. This event was part of the celebration of the 6th Anniversary of HMPF UGM and served as a tangible expression of students’ concern for nature, especially the mangrove ecosystem.

Mangrove Planting at Baros Beach

During the event, participants consisting of Master’s and Doctoral students of Physics UGM carried out mangrove planting in the conservation area of Baros Beach. Mangroves were chosen because of their vital role in maintaining coastal ecosystems, preventing shoreline abrasion, and serving as habitats for a wide variety of marine and terrestrial life. The activity was not only about planting, but also included educational sessions on the importance of mangroves in climate change mitigation and environmental sustainability.
