New Students Registration

Registration as a prospective student of the UGM Master of Physics study programme is carried out online through the Universitas Gadjah Mada Entrance Examination page,  Selection Variety, Requirements (University level), Selection Procedures and Schedule are available on the page.  The following only presents special requirements for prospective students of the UGM Master of Physics study programme.

The documents and/or data required to register are as follows:

1.Original certificate from the previous education programme (S1 or equivalent) from an accredited study programme in an appropriate and/or related field of science and approved by the Master Programme to be followed;
2.

Original transcripts with Grade Point Average in S1 programme or equivalent, with the following criteria (regular route only) :

  1. ≥ 2,50 on a scale of 4 or equivalent, for applicants who are graduates of A-accredited study programmes, or;
  2. ≥ 2.75 on a scale of 4 or equivalent, for applicants graduating from a B accredited study programme, or;
  3. ≥ 3.00 on a scale of 4 or equivalent, for applicants who graduated from a C accredited study programme.

Study programme accreditation certificate for undergraduate programmes or equivalent, with the following provisions:

  1. The accreditation of the study programme in question is the current accreditation and is evidenced by a scan of the accreditation certificate or print screen of accreditation from the website of the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT)/LAM-PTKes which is still valid.;
  2. Study programmes whose accreditation is in the process of being extended, evidenced by a receipt of submission of accreditation forms to BAN-PT/LAM-PTKes obtained from the relevant tertiary institution. A certificate from the relevant university is not valid;
  3. Applicants who are overseas graduates must have a certificate of equivalence from KEMDIKBUD in lieu of an accreditation certificate.

The committee only processes accreditation documents that are in accordance with the conditions.

A valid potency test result certificate* (maximum 2 years from the date of issuance of the certificate). The committee only accepts potential test results:

*) Applicants must have a score. The minimum score is determined by the destination study programme (can exceed the minimum score on the website). um.ugm.ac.id).

A valid English proficiency test result certificate* (maximum 2 years from the date of issuance of the certificate). The committee only accepts English proficiency test results:

The minimum score above is set by the UGM Master of Physics study programme (can exceed the minimum score on the um.ugm.ac.id page).

6.Confidential recommendations from 2 (two) people who know the prospective student in the previous education programme, Academic Supervisor and/or other people who are considered authorised, for example the applicant's workplace supervisor. The link to provide recommendations online will be sent by the UM UGM Committee to the recommender via email. Make sure the recommender's email address is a valid and active email address;
7.

Special requirements :

  1. A projection of the prospective student's desire to follow the Master's Programme which contains, among others, plans for research topics / interests as well as reasons and expectations for following the chosen programme, plans for research topics, and plans after completing the course (format can be downloaded)here);
  2. Thesis research proposal* / essay writing / other special requirements required by the study programme.

*)Mandatory for applicants of the Research-Based pathway (by research) 

8.Letter of permission / study assignment from the workplace agency for applicants who are already working (format can be downloadedhere);
9.Document of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or Cooperation Agreement or Determination Letter as a Scholarship Recipient that is still valid (specifically for applicants of the cooperation path);
10.Document Statement of Authenticity (format can be downloaded here).

 

Additional Requirements for Regular New Student Registration

Take the written test and interview test. 

  • Written test in the form of a basic ability test in the field of Physics including: Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Electricity and Magnetism, Modern Physics, and Mathematics for Physics. 
  • The interview test assesses the academic ability and readiness of prospective students to pursue the Master of Physics programme.

Additional Registration Requirements for New Student by Research

Additional requirements: 

  1. Candidates have a Grade Point Average (GPA) in the undergraduate programme of more than or equal to 3.00 (three point zero zero) on a scale of 4 (four) or equivalent, from an accredited Study Programme of at least B at the time of graduation of the applicant;
  2. Candidates have a research plan proposal and Curriculum Vitae containing biodata, educational background, research and publications.
  3. Candidates have received written approval in the form of recommendations from prospective supervisors at the Department of Physics UGM who are willing to guide the candidate's research while being a Master of Physics Research Track student.
  4. Take a written test and interview test.

  • Written test in the form of a basic ability test in the field of Physics including: Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Magnetic Electricity, Modern Physics, and Mathematics for Physics.
  • The interview test for prospective students of Research-Based Master of Physics assesses the academic ability and readiness of prospective students to take the Research-Based Master of Physics programme.
