Four UGM Physics Master’s Students Excel at the 7th International Conference on Materials and Intelligent Manufacturing (ICMIM) 2025, Singapore

In the academic realm, especially in the field of research and scientific development, the opportunity to share research findings on an international stage is both an honor and a valuable platform to expand knowledge and build scientific networks. Recently, four Master’s students in Physics at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) from the 2023 cohort took part in this prestigious international event: the 7th International Conference on Materials and Intelligent Manufacturing (ICMIM), held at NTU One-North, Singapore, from June 30 to July 2, 2025.

The participation of these UGM students stands as a tangible demonstration of the Department of Physics’ strong commitment to fostering not only academic excellence but also the courage to compete and contribute on the global stage. The students—Intan Riany Solo, Henny Afiyanti, Imelda Zahra, and Ihsan Nurijal—proudly represented their university by presenting their research findings and engaging in scientific discussions with international experts and researchers specializing in advanced materials and intelligent manufacturing.

ICMIM is a renowned international conference that serves as a foundational platform for scientists, researchers, professors, and students worldwide to meet, exchange ideas, present the latest research, and strengthen collaborative efforts in the fields of advanced functional materials and intelligent manufacturing. The conference topics vary widely and include the development of new materials, advanced fabrication techniques, and the application of smart technologies in manufacturing processes. In the context of the globalization of science, events like this are crucial to driving innovation and technological advances that impact various industrial sectors and human life.

All four Master’s students successfully passed the oral presentation selection and were given the valuable opportunity to present their research to a distinguished audience of experts. These scientific presentations are not merely a formality but pivotal moments to sharpen research arguments, receive constructive feedback, and open doors to professional networks that will be beneficial in their future careers.

Among them, Intan Riany Solo and Henny Afiyanti demonstrated exceptional scientific communication skills and thorough mastery of their research topics during their sessions. Their outstanding presentations earned them the Best Oral Presenter awards in their respective sessions. These accolades are clear evidence of their dedication, hard work, and the high quality of research they have conducted during their studies at UGM. Their success not only elevated their personal reputations but also brought honor and international recognition to UGM’s Master of Physics program.

Meanwhile, Imelda Zahra and Ihsan Nurijal also actively participated with inspiring intellectual enthusiasm and research zeal, demonstrating that UGM students are ready to contribute significant research advances to the development of science and technology.

This remarkable achievement reflects the ongoing efforts of UGM to nurture academic talent, promote research excellence, and foster international collaboration. It also highlights the importance of providing students with opportunities to engage in international scientific communities, which is essential for personal growth, academic enrichment, and contributing to global scientific progress.
